Following an early successful career as a clothing designer & illustrator the emphasis of Ruth’s creative practice gradually shifted from the commercial to a personal study of fine art.

An intense period of drawing & then painting developed into a regular programme of exhibitions and events, initially in Oxford and currently in London & Bristol.

EXISTENTIAL DIAGRAMS

Ruth’s current work is grouped under the heading, ‘existential diagrams’ and is a continuing study that attempts to construct a simple visual system or cartographic shorthand that can convey complex information.

To aid the compression and distillation of ideas and data that relate to the clash of real and imaginary worlds she has borrowed the format of the diagram.
